A new bike-speak product designed to improve the quality of bike-mounted reflectors is making its debut in the United States.
Bike spoke reflector reflectors are designed to absorb energy, rather than reflect it back onto the road, and reflect light back into the roadway.
They have been tested and are approved for use in public bike lanes, but not for commercial use.
The product is called BikeSpeak, and it’s available through the bike-shop company Speaksafe.
The company, which has raised $100,000 to help develop it, has developed the product as a way to make the street lights and bike racks more energy efficient.
In its video, the company’s founder, Mike Bowers, says the product is aimed at reducing energy use while increasing road safety.
“We’ve done a lot of research and we’ve done quite a bit of testing and we’re pretty happy with what we’ve found,” he says.
“BikeSpeak is designed to replace the need for reflectors in existing reflectors and replace them with a solution that’s designed to reduce energy use and improve road safety.”
The product, which will be available in the next few weeks, consists of a reflector shield that attaches to a bike’s frame, and is designed with a mesh that absorbs light and directs it back into an exterior light.
The idea is to improve visibility and reduce the number of reflective spots.
Bowers says the technology is being used to reduce road noise by up to 60 per cent.
“A lot of times, a lot if you’re driving on a busy street or highway, you’re hearing traffic and you’re seeing the cars and you might not be paying attention,” he said.
“The lights and the reflectors help us identify cars and stop them in traffic so we can see that they’re not on a street.”
When you’re riding your bike and you see these reflective spots, you see a white spot.
That white spot helps us identify them.
“He says the reflector design can also be used to improve street lighting.”
In a busy area, you might see a lot more people than you would on a quiet street.
If you have an outdoor light, it will help your visibility because it’s more visible.
“It’s actually going to improve road flow and safety,” he adds.
“What we’ve developed is a system that’s not only a better reflector, it’s a system for cyclists to have a safer and more efficient reflector.”
The technology is available in a range of sizes, including a 12-metre (40-foot) model.
The products were designed by a team of engineers and engineers in the US.
Bikesafe CEO Matt Miller says the company has been researching the technology for a few years and the new product is the result of a partnership with an American engineering firm.
“They were looking for a solution to a problem that they knew we were going to have, and we wanted to build it,” he told Vice News.
“With the right technology, it can be an incredibly cost-effective solution to an issue that has been plaguing the industry for a long time.”
Bikesafety Australia spokesman Andrew Waugh says he expects more companies will take up the BikeSpeaksafe platform in the near future.
“If you look at the growing number of products that bike-sporting organisations are trying to put on the market, they’re looking for ways to make bikes more environmentally friendly, so BikeSpeAK fits right in there,” he tells Vice News.””
It looks like there’s a lot going on out there and I think we’re all just starting to realise the possibilities.
