Electric vehicles are slowly making their way to the US market, and the Tesla Model S is proving popular.
The carmaker is hoping to take the first step in the market when it rolls out a small electric SUV to the public later this month.
Tesla’s new SUV, the Model S, was unveiled on Monday at the company’s Palo Alto, California headquarters.
The Model S offers a range of 150 miles (241 kilometers) on a single charge.
It is the first vehicle to offer all-electric driving and comes with a range that rivals the BMW i3, which has a range topping 350 miles (482 kilometers).
The car has a seating capacity of 6,400.
It weighs 4,907 pounds (1,823 kilograms).
It can go up to 100 mph (161 km/h), which is a new record for an electric vehicle.
