Here are a couple of things to consider:1.
Make sure your voice is clear.
If your voice sounds too high or too low, it may indicate that you have a weak voice or a weak pronunciation.
If you can’t articulate what you’re saying, it could indicate that your voice may be too strong or too soft.2.
Take your time.
Talk at a pace that makes sense to others and doesn’t make them feel uncomfortable.
Ask for their feedback, not your own.3.
If someone is listening, give them the chance to hear it.
If they don’t hear it, say, “Hey, that’s fine, I guess.”4.
When you say something, make sure to keep it simple.
A simple way to tell if you’re speaking with authority is if you don’t have a long pause between your words.5.
Remember that you can talk to yourself if you feel overwhelmed or if you need to talk about something.6.
If something you say is not right, ask yourself what it means to you.
If it means you feel less confident, that might be a sign that you’re having a hard time talking with others.7.
If there are any doubts or concerns about your delivery, try to be as open as possible.
Talking to someone who has a difficult time speaking makes them feel more comfortable.8.
Try to find out what others are saying about your topic.
Ask what other people think of your talk and if they agree with you.9.
If people are interested in your topic, offer to help them.
Offer to do homework, answer phone calls, write an essay or give a talk on your topic to give them ideas.10.
Talk to someone in your group.
If possible, talk to a group of people, not just one person.
If this is too stressful for you, you can ask someone to talk to you and then you can start your own group conversation.
If you’re a college student, make a list of people you think you’d be interested in speaking with, but who you’re not.
For example, if you want to meet someone at a party, you could ask, “What do you want me to talk with you about?”
And then you could write down what you think would be a good topic for a discussion.
Ask people to make a suggestion.
